Co-starring Romi Rain and Olivia Austin, Casual Encounters is now in stores nationwide.
Lord’s topical script follows the saga of Julie (jessica), a woman who embarks on a sexually charged voyage of self-discovery after answering an ad in the “casual encounters” section of a website. As she unlocks her innermost desires, she finds that deep within her psyche lies an untapped side of her sexuality. She wants more than just a “normal” relationship with one man, or one woman. She wants it all, and she wants to feel everything. She wants to experience sex in a whole new way.
The experience of bringing Julie’s erotic odyssey to life was an exciting creative challenge for Ms. drake, especially as the themes of Casual Encounters are explored through moody visuals and creative editing rather than copious amounts of dialogue. “Playing Julie was both amazing and complicated,” she reveals. “To have no dialogue at all in the movie sounded easy, but proved to be difficult. I loved her exploration of sex, and I loved that it coincided with mine in some ways – I’ve wanted to shoot a gangbang for quite a while now, and David Lord’s script gave me the perfect reason!"
Ms. drake saves her highest praise for the multi-talented Lord, a veteran member of the Wicked family who recently created the well-received ensemble piece The Key. “Working with David Lord as a director was a great experience. Everyone has their own style, and I was impressed by not only his vision, but his execution. He was attentive to detail and showcased me in what I now consider to be one of the top movies of my career. I can’t wait to collaborate with him again.”
Rather than rely on explanatory dialogue, Lord communicates the story through gritty cinematic visuals, slick mainstream production values, and erotic tension. The end result is the kind of instant couples classic that could only have come from the talented visionaries of Wicked Pictures. “We live in a Tinder-obsessed, social media-focused time,” observes the veteran filmmaker. “Casual Encounters is a comment on the direction our whole culture is headed in. It’s really unlike anything else out there. It was a risky move to tell a story without standard dialogue scenes and I’m grateful to Wicked Pictures for giving me the opportunity.”
Of jessica, Lord raves, “She was amazing! Always up for the challenge and always prepared. She’s perfect as Julie. Romi Rain is excellent as well, and it was fun to work with Olivia Austin again, who was also in The Key. The entire cast stepped up, as did the crew. In addition to myself, I had Mike Quasar, Barrett Blade and Alex Ladd on camera. The movie looks phenomenal.”
Both shot and edited in pristine 16×9 widescreen HD, the Casual Encounters DVD features three bonus sex scenes, a sensual still gallery, exciting trailers and other exclusive content. And it all comes encased in a stylish O-card depicting a blindfolded jessica surrounded by the male cast, which includes Steven St. Croix, Mr. Pete, Derrick Pierce, Marcus London and Eric Masterson.
