Based on a post I made here: / />
Safewords. Part of the toolkit for safety we provide for every new person in the community. With safewords, a proper negotiation, and all of that good stuff, everything should be okay right? Well, perhaps in a perfect world it would be. But as the mounting consent / abuse / violation issues that have been plaguing the BDSM world come to light, there are clearly issues that safewords don't always solve. Or at least, merely having them exist doesn't solve.
In this video I want to discuss why safewords aren't perfect. Why using them isn't always foolproof, and why even just using them in the first place can be difficult. This is of course just strictly my OPINION and really I believe the next step is creating a community where safeword use is more normalized and we acknowledge the parts that can make using them more difficult.
No safeword is not an excuse. This applies to ALL sides of the slash, all roles.
